The Life Of David - Deliver Me From My Enemies, O God - 1 Samuel 18:17-19:24

God has many ways of preserving his people.

1. Saul tried to get the Philistines to kill David, but they were defeated by him. 

2. Saul tried to get Jonathan to kill David, but he delighted in him.

We must be willing to hear reason, and to take all reproofs and good advice even from our inferiors, parents from their own children. How forcible are right words! - Matthew Henry

God has many ways of preserving his people.

3. Saul tried to kill David himself, but David dodged him. 

4. Saul tried to use Michal to kill David, but she delivered him.

5. Saul tried to kill David again, but the Holy Spirit disabled him [Saul].

During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Hebrews 5:7
